Investor Visa Programs (188B/188C)The Significant Investor Visa (188C) offers a four-year pathway to permanent residency for entrepreneurial and high net worth individuals who are willing to make substantial complying investments in areas of the Australian economy that will drive innovation and the commercialization of Australian ideas.

SIV holders are required to invest $5m into complying significant investments for a minimum of four years before being eligible to apply for a permanent visa.

In 2021 the investment framework for SIV was amended by the Australian Government to direct investments into sectors which can contribute to the economic development of Australia.


The framework for the SIV requires applicants to invest in a combination of:

 

  • Australian venture capital/growth private equity (minimum $1m)
  • Emerging Australian companies (minimum $1.5m)
  • ‘Balancing’ investments (maximum $2.5m) that may comprise Australian listed companies, A-REITs, infrastructure trusts, corporate bonds/notes, annuities and limited real property.

 

The Investor Visas (188B) are for successful investors or business owners who are willing to invest and maintain AUD$2.5 million into complying investment fund for the duration of the provisional visa (four year) as well as score at least 65 on the points test;

The framework for the IV requires applicants to invest in a combination of:

 

  • Australian venture capital/growth private equity (minimum $500,000)
  • Emerging Australian companies (minimum $750,000)
  • ‘Balancing’ investments (maximum $1.25m) that may comprise Australian listed companies, A-REITs, infrastructure trusts, corporate bonds/notes, annuities and limited real property.
